BROADLEY AQUATICS ADVICE | WINTER POND | ARE THEY HUNGRY?
January 15, 2019
Stop feeding your fish standard food, they will struggle to digest it at this time of year. Especially if the water temperature is below 10 degrees.
Don’t worry, they will have plenty to feed on in the pond, and if you wish to supplement them ON WARMER DAYS ONLY, use a wheatgerm based food. Remember, excess food will also build up, decaying on the bottom.
Plant hygiene is important. Clean up any dead plant material in the pond and on the banks. Cut back any marginal plants close to their base, it will help encourage new growth in the springtime. Prune yellow or brown leaves on the lilies too.
